The Halfen Approach
We are all much more aware of health and safety these days, and rightly so. The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations introduced in
July 2005 limits the time that individual operatives can spend using vibrating hand tools. The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005
impose similar restrictions to protect employee’s hearing. Furthermore, the CDM Regulations place a duty of care on designers to avoid
health and safety risks, such as Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome, excessive noise and dust.
Fortunately there is a ready-made solution. The health and safety issues that arise from hammer drilling concrete for fixings can be avoided
completely by the use of channels cast into concrete.
The links below provide further information on Cast-in-Channels including our CPD presentations.

Halfen CPD Seminar: Avoiding Hand-Arm Vibration when fixing to concrete
As the name suggests, the topic of this seminar is Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) when fixing to concrete.
The purpose of the presentation is to help the viewer understand the issue of HAVS, provide guidance on meeting the new regulations,
and offer a solution to the problem. The seminar now also includes information on the new Dust and Noise regulations.
Designed to provide valuable information and assistance for specifiers through to end-users the presentation is relevant to all.
